  6. Paris, opera Porgy and Bess, piano preludes. (The orchestration of Rhapsody in
  7. Blue is by F. Grofe; of the other works, by Gershwin himself.) Studied with R.
  8. Goldmark but was mainly self-taught. Died after an unsuccessful brain
  9. operation.
